Wave Lumina Takes 2nd Place and Audience Choice at TCNewTech
Wave Lumina took home both second place and the audience choice award at the September 2024 TCNewTech pitch competition in Traverse City — a strong show of support from the local innovation community for the company’s mission to make PFAS contamination visible on-site.
Before environmental engineering firms and government response teams can clean up PFAS “forever chemicals,” they first need to know where the contamination is. Today, that means expensive lab testing that can take weeks to return results. Wave Lumina is building a portable field sensor that brings reliable PFAS screening directly to the sample point, so professionals can sample smarter and start remediation sooner.
The win came alongside a broader stretch of momentum for the Traverse City startup — from a growing local support network to early field testing of its technology.
